Cloud Providers
As mentioned above, you can choose from five cloud server providers through Cloudways. These top providers are DigitalOcean, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Linode and Vultr. Each one is robust enough for small business needs, with cloud-based servers offering varying amounts of processing power, memory and storage space.
Storage and Bandwidth Limits
Depending on your cloud server, Cloudways offer plans from 25GB to 3840GB storage and 2GB to 12TB bandwidth. Bandwidth is metered and limited based on your plan, but your usage is measured, and you’re only billed for the amount of bandwidth you use (per month or per hour).
Extras and Inclusions
Cloudways hosting includes a free SSL certificate for added security, but it doesn’t include many of the extra features some hosting services provide, such as a free domain and email hosting.
Ease of Use
Cloudways hosting comes with a higher learning curve than some web hosting services, so it’s not recommended for users who are new to website hosting and with low technological knowledge. The user interface and configuration options are complex and might be overwhelming for beginners who aren’t interested in learning the ins and outs of server administration.
User Dashboard/cPanel
Instead of a traditional cPanel interface, Cloudways provides a custom-built user dashboard that lets you manage your hosting service. It’s more user-friendly than a cPanel interface and designed to make server management simpler, though it’s still more complex than some hosting dashboards for beginners.
The Cloudways dashboard includes basic server management functions, including server and application management, domain management, SSL certificate installation, backups and server scaling.
Security
There are a few security features Cloudways offers on all plans, including:
- Free SSL certificates
- Ability to create an IP address whitelist
- Regular firmware upgrades and patches to prevent potential threats
- Built-in security system to prevent vulnerabilities and unauthorized access to data
Server Monitoring
Users who log into their dashboard will be able to monitor the load on their cloud server. There are more than 15 variables you can monitor, including the amount of incoming traffic received. This feature is helpful if you want to see whether you need to anticipate a surge in website traffic and upgrade plans temporarily to accommodate for it.
